Overview

Behance lets creatives show portfolio projects and connect with prospective clients. Its hiring guide describes availability settings, service listings, inquiries, proposals and payments through connected Stripe or PayPal accounts. It also points to job opportunities. Calling it only a social portfolio site misses those hiring features.

Our assessment: Behance is worth considering when seeing your finished work and process helps a client decide whether to hire you. A coherent illustration, branding or motion-design portfolio can explain your offer more clearly than a long list of unrelated skills. Publishing a portfolio does not establish that paid inquiries will follow.

Make the portfolio useful to a buyer

Choose projects that resemble work you want to be commissioned to do. Explain the brief, your role, important constraints and what you delivered. If a project was a personal exercise, label it that way. Credit collaborators and obtain permission before displaying confidential client material.

A service description should answer practical questions: what files the buyer receives, what they need to provide, when work can begin and what counts as a revision. For example, a packaging concept and production-ready packaging artwork involve different responsibilities. Show which one you offer.

Understand payment costs

The official fee FAQ lists separate client and freelancer fee schedules. Do not use the hiring-side table to estimate your freelancer deductions. Payment processing is a separate cost, and splitting a payment can affect the processing charges. Subscription-related fee waivers also need to be distinguished from payment processor charges.

Before sending a proposal, review the current fee calculation and connected payment method. Build the quote around your delivery time, revisions and expenses rather than assuming the amount the client pays equals your take-home income. Check payment availability for your location before relying on Behance for a project.

Run a small, measurable test

Publish a focused set of case studies and a specific service offer. Keep a record of qualified inquiries, accepted proposals and time spent maintaining the portfolio. Appreciations and views can help you understand interest, but they are not paid work. If inquiries are vague, improve the service scope before adding more portfolio volume.
